Since then, I’ve been waiting for the organizers to launch it. In early May, we had a flurry of email exchanges, followed by some phone calls. In late May, I had a strong sense of wanting to withdraw. The project still hadn’t launched, but I knew I couldn’t just walk away and leave them in the lurch.

The next day, I got an email from the man who recommended me for the project. He wanted to introduce me, electronically, to a colleague. “I was thinking that if you need a hand with the project or just want some relief, she’d be a great partner.” Wow, I thought. The universe was listening.

This woman and I scheduled a phone call, and the fit turned out to be just about perfect! She has the skills and experience, knows the key players in the client organization, is available on both of the launch dates that I’d recently scheduled with the organizers, and is excited about the work. For the client, the transition is effortless. That was three days ago.

Two days ago, I was booked solid and the day’s schedule was changing hourly. At 11:40 a.m., I accidentally butt-dialed my hairdresser on my cell phone. I realized it when I heard his voice, so I automatically hit the “end call’ button. Then I thought twice and called back to apologize for the hang-up.

“Not a problem,” he said. “See you in 20 minutes.”

“What?”

“Twenty minutes. Your next appointment is at noon.”

“Not today!” I barked. “I’m booked solid.” I paused, looked at iCal, and said “My calendar says we’re on for next Tuesday.”

I heard his calendar pages rustling. “You’re right. You’re on for Tuesday as well. I don’t know how that happened. Which one do you want?”

“Tuesday!” I said.

“Done. See you Tuesday.” I heaved a sigh of relief, looked skyward, and mouthed, Thank you.

Twice in two days the universe was whispering and I managed to listen. I call it intuition. Author Sonia Choquette calls it six-sensory living. Regardless of the label we use, it’s about tapping into our energetic level, the level at which we are all connected. When we’re willing to listen, even if the message doesn’t make sense at first, we open ourselves to the world beyond reason and logic.

If you want to learn more about how to connect with this inner voice and live by what Choquette calls “spiritual law, not ego-based law,” I suggest her book Trust Your Vibes: Secret Tools for Six-Sensory Living. I’m using it to find new ways to dip into the energy plane that’s always flowing and connecting us.

Six months ago, I signed on for a new group coaching project.
